Booking.com is a worldwide known service that makes booking a hotel a whole lot easier, it became very popular during its existence, many people are using Booking.com every day, especially in the summer season. In this whole turmoil, we can't forget about the Hotel Owners that are trying to earn some money on their businesses. In the following years, a certain programme has gained a lot of friction, it's the Genius program, which in theory, was made to make your hotel more visible amongst others and by that - get more bookings faster. It seems great, but many owners are not happy with the Genius program, and in this article, we'll cover exactly why.
Genius is a business program, that brings partners closer to Booking's.com most request bookers, which means, that Hotels get an increase in both amounts of bookings and revenue (by 18 and 17% on average). By joining Genius, your hotel will be displayed to customers who travel more often, spend more on bookings and book further in advance. This sounds, of course, like a great deal, more customers and money with no disadvantages! Well, in reality, it looks way different. Genius gives customers many, many discounts, for example, a room can be booked for 15 - 20% lower price, just because your hotel is a Genius partner, and the customer is also using the programme. It's a huge loss, especially if you are the owner of smaller accommodation. Some owners are also irritated because they often don't even want to be a part of the Genius programme, which means that you have to go through the long and annoying process of opting out of Genius.
There are many reasons for leaving the Genius program. The problem is - leaving it is an extremely annoying process and some people just simply give up on this very step. There are many discussions on how to properly leave the programme, and some of them seem to lead nowhere. Here are some reasons why you should consider opting out of Genius for good:
