Set Up SIM Card Lock - PIN Protection

If you would like to make your phone as safe as possible you need to set up a couple of things. One of the most important settings are the secure screen lock (face unlock, fingerprint, etc.) and the Google Account but it’s not the end. You may not realize that the really important feature is the PIN protection on your SIM Card. It's good idea to set up the 4 digit code that it's hard to guess, but easy for you to remember.

What is the PIN protection? How to the SIM Lock works?

Every SIM Card comes with factory PIN protection which you can change by using our tutorial. The default PIN  should be located on your SIM box. If you fail to enter the correct PIN three times your SIM will be blocked. You will have the chance to unlock your card by using the PUK (PIN Unlock Key) which also comes with the original box.

How to enable SIM Lock protection?

Every manufacturer has their own way to enable PIN protection on.  In this article we will try to show you the most popular steps to enable SIM Lock on your phone.

  1. At the very beginning you need to open the Settings on your device.
  2. Then you should find the Security section. It could be named as Security & Location, Lock Screen and Security, Security & Privacy etc.
  3. Afterwards scroll down in order to find SIM Card Lock option. Sometimes this feature can be hidden under Other Security Settings.
  4. Excellent! You are in the right place. Here you can enable / disable SIM Lock or you may change you PIN.
