How To Root Sony Xperia Z3 phone with Android 6.0.1?

Necessary Tools, Drivers and Firmware

  1. Sony Xperia PC Companion with USB Drivers
  2. Sony FlashTool 32bit
  3. Sony FlashTool 64bit
  4. Custom recovery
  5. SuperSU.zip

Installing Necessary tool and drivers

  1. Download custom recovery for your phone model and unpack it.
  2. Download SuperSU.zip.
  3. Unpack and install Sony FlashTool software.
  4. Install Sony Xperia PC Companion.

WARNING!
ROOT process in the phone will erase all of your data.
All described operations you are doing at your own risk.
If want saves your data do a backup before start.
The battery should be at least 60% charged before starting.

Rooting Tutorial

  1. Unlock Bootloader in the phone(Manual here).
  2. Turn on phone and enable usb debugging in developer menu.
  3. Connect USB cable and install all drivers.
  4. Copy SuperSU.zip to internal phone memory or microSD card.
  5. If your phone is running on the Marshmallow firmware .291 check-in phone menuFirmware version in About phone menu
    you have to download the .575 kernel for your device:
    If you have different firmware just go to step 14 and follow manual.
  6. Rename the kernel file from .zip into .ftf. and copy to c:\Users\your name\.flashTool\firmwares\kernel files sony z3
  7. Turn on Sony FlashTool software(depends on windows system 32/64bit use file Flashtool or Flashtool64).Sony FlashTool phone connected in flash mode
  8. Switch off the phone with power button.
  9. Holding volume down button connect the phone to USB cable. The phone should be connected in flash mode now.
  10. Next press thunder button in Sony FlashTool software and select flash mode in new windows and press OK.

  11. In new window select phone model, exactly phone model, the kernel only, select 23.5.A.0.575 and press Flash button.

  12. The phone will be flashed, just disconnect from usb cable and turn on the phone by power button.kernel change by Sony FlashTool success

  1. Restart the computer and then connect turned on fully phone to usb cable.
  2. Go to custom recovery directory where you unpack it.
  3. Press install.bat application.

  4. Just wait until the application end then reboot the phone to custom recovery.
  5. Next press Install button, select SuperSU.zip that you copy before to phone memory or sdcard.

  6. Swipe to install it and root phone.

  7. When process end you will see Reboot System button press it.twrp recovery installed in sony, reboot button

Thats all. The phone is rooted successfully with android 6.0.1 stock firmware.

If you want to be sure that the device is fully rooted, it is best to use the application from the Google Play store, e.g. Hard Root Checker. Just install and run, and you will have information about the status of the Root and Busybox. Simple but very helpful.
