What is ESN?

ESN is for the Electronic Serial Number, which is a unique identification code assigned by the specific manufacturer on a microchip in wireless phones. Every time a call is placed, this number is automatically transmitted to the base station. That is how the wireless carrier can check each call's validity. It is extremely helpful in fraud prevention. Moreover, this number is used for time attendance and registration tracking as well.
