Firmware Change/Update on SONY Xperia Tipo ST21a

Necessary Tools and Drivers

1. Sony PC Companion with Drivers
2. Sony FlashTool 32bit
3. Sony FlashTool 64bit

Install Necessary Tools

1. Start by installing Sony PC Companion with Drivers
2. Unpack and Install FlashTool, then find x10flasher.jar which is in the C:\FlashTool folder and replace it with the file from the unpacked archive.

• Windows 10 users should go to c:\Windows\inf  and search for the file "wpdmtp.inf" press the right button on it and select INSTALL. 

Change/ Repair/ Update Firmware in Sony Xperia phones

1. First of all, we need to find out the exact phone model that we've got. 

• This can be done by entering IMEI number on IMEI.info

• also, you can find it in Xperia Tipo ST21a  phone menu as shown below

• or from the label which can be found next to the phone sim/memory card slot.

2. Turn on FlashTool(depent on windows system 32/64bit use file Flashtool or Flashtool64)
3. Go to XperiFirm,

4. Select SONY Xperia Tipo ST21a model,

5. Now choose exact  Xperia Tipo ST21a  model from step No. 1.

6. Select firmware by country that you need
(unbranded firmware you can recognize by name CUSTOMIZED_CE1 or CUSTOMIZED_SG they come with all language packages from around the world)

7. Download firmware by pressing firmware version button.

8. After the download is finished close XperiaFirm, now FlashTool will ask you if you want to add downloaded firmware to the database click the YES button to confirm.
9. Next press the lightning button,

10. Select Flashmode and confirm with OK button.

11. Select SONY Xperia Tipo ST21a  phone model and model number of your phone, firmware customization and firmware version the one you've downloaded in step No. 7. 

12. Next check userdata, cust-reset everything else must be unchecked.

13. When you're ready press the Flash button.

14. Connect turned off Xperia Tipo ST21a  phone to USB cable with pressed volume down button.
15. Release volume down button when you see "Device connected in flash mode" information in FlashTool windows log.The flash process starts, now just wait until process end.

16. After all disconnect Xperia Tipo ST21a  phone from the USB cable. Turn it on with the power button and leave it on a flat surface until the phone turns on completely
(this is very important otherwise the phone will not complete the first start and you will see an error message on the phone screen).
17. Congratulations your flash process ended successfully. Now you can enjoy your SONY Xperia Tipo ST21a with new firmware.
